Summary
Prosecutor Alexandra Cooper is called to a Baptist church in Harlem, originally built as a synagogue, where the body of a young woman has been decapitated and set on fire. Was the fire meant to destroy the body or to draw attention to it? A second corpse is found at a cathedral in Little Italy. Alex mines the depths of Manhattan's many houses of worship to find a connection that will take her into terrible danger.
